Sika developed the mix-design for the self-compacting concrete for one of the most powerful pumped-storage hydropower plants in Europe.

In 2019, a new bigger airport was opened to cover the increasing volume of passengers traveling through Istanbul. In addition to the airport infrastructure, it was necessary to construct a new Metro Line to connect the new airport to the city center.

Thanks to Sika solutions, it was possible to strengthen the roof slab to maintain service ability for such a mega project, and to improve service life and durability to comply with current standards.

In September 2019, the children of municipal primary school Ket & Co. moved from a temporary school into a new modern facility. They were able to discover all newly renovated areas of their three-story school building, including the entrance, corridors and classrooms

Construction of the brand new Metro Line in the city of Quito in Ecuador

The scooter sharing station is located at a metro station with heated pathways to avoid icing in winter. As the heating cables are close to the surface common mechanical fixation was not possible. An adhesive suitable for fixing heavy objects was the solution.

Over 8 km of the tunnel below the city of Buenos Aires were excavated by TBM. Sika supplied concrete admixtures for the fabrication of the over 30.000 single segments.

Renovation of Zeitz Museum, South Africa

The tunnel was excavated in traditional system on 10 meter wide sections with double lining in shotcrete and cast in situ secondary lining. Sika provided a wide range of admixtures for specially designed concrete and shotcrete mixes.

The staff at Oulu City Hall moved into a new residence during the renovation of City Hall. There was previously a linoleum floor that had to be removed as soon as possible before the arrival of the staff. The floors of the canteen and break rooms were coated with a new patterned method, giving the floor a completely refreshed and new look.

Helena Bay Lodge is located on one of the most beautiful sections of New Zealand’s Northland coastline. A magnificent luxury destination, it cost $65 million to complete. When the Lodge opened in November 2016, it was named the best new luxury hotel in the world. Sika was originally invited to provide specification for just a 10 metre deck. From there our involvement grew to the point where we were eventually involved in multiple areas across the property.

The designer’s architectural specifications were that the campus hall should not only look like a sports venue, but that it should also function as a concert hall and be able to accommodate a variety of meetings, parties and other events. The seamless, fully bonded liquid polyurethane flooring is easy to clean and maintain. The impervious, dense surface provides a very hygienic and safe solution.
