The brand new MITEC is the largest exhibition centre in Malaysia. It derives its unique shape from the rubber seed; a symbol of the Malaysia historical trade business. It is located in Segambut, KL, next to Menara MATRADE. The architect firm for the project is RSP, one of the largest architectural practices in the world with more than 1,300 professionals.
Project Requirements
With the challenging geometry of the roof design, the architect has faced the huge challenge to have a roof and façade not only provide the unique shape from its original concept but in the same to ensure full and perfect water tightness under the decorative cladding system.
Sika Solutions
Sika Sarnafil® roof system was selected as the roofing system ensure a perfect waterproofing under the decorative cladding system. A unique anchoring system that is hot-air welded to the membrane make the installation progress simple, effective and efficient. Architect and client are convinced with the great flexibility of the membrane system. The system was applied over the 65,000 square meter roof surface to allow the astonishing finish expected by the architects and owner.
Roof build-up
- Aluminum Composite Panel fixed on a sub-frame
- Sika® Uni-anchor to connect aluminum composite panel watertight to the roof build up
- Sarnafil® G410-15 L Felt fully adhered
- 2 x 6 mm thick fiber cement board mechanically attached
- 100 mm thick Sarnatherm®-52 (Mineral Wool)
- 0.8 mm steel deck
