Waiting Time

The waiting time between coats is 4–6 hours (at +30 °C).

Overcoating

For overcoating with other cementitious materials, allow the second coat to harden for at least 3 days prior to overcoating. For use in water-retaining structures or for applying renders over it or for overcoating with non-cementitious materials, please contact Sika's Technical Service Department.

At least 2 coating layers are required. It might be necessary to reach 3 layers in areas where there are extremely strong leakage. As a guide:

The maximum consumption per layer should not exceed 4 kg/m² (2 mm thickness).

The concrete "pull off" (tensile adhesive) strength must be > 1.0 N/mm².

Remove deteriorated concrete by mechanical means, sandblasting or pressurized water, until a healthy and drought, cohesive substrate is obtained. The substrate must be sound, clean, free of grease, oil, friable parts, laitance.

In case of irregularities in the substrate, it can be first regularized with Sika MonoTop®-222 Patch Repair or another from SikaMonotop® range.

All singular points should be treated first with Sika MonoTop®-222 Patch Repair or another from Sika MonoTop® appropiate range.

Before applying SikaTop® Seal-107 Fibre MY, the substrate must be moistened until saturated without flooding it.

Mixing should be carried out using a low-speed electric mixer at 300–600 rpm. Use a wide, clean container and pour in the required amount of water first. Gradually add SikaTop® Seal-107 Fibre MY powder while mixing for 3 minutes at slow speed until a smooth and homogeneous consistency is achieved. Allow the mixture to rest for 5 minutes. After resting, remix for 1 minute at high speed before application to ensure full activation and uniformity of the material.

Trowel Application

The mixed mortar shall be applied using a notched trowel with 3–4 mm serrations. The first coat is to be spread using the serrated edge to create uniform grooves, ensuring consistent thickness and coverage. Once the first layer has hardened sufficiently—typically after 4 to 6 hours depending on ambient conditions—the second coat shall be applied using the straight edge of the trowel, following the direction of the grooves to achieve a smooth, continuous finish. Care shall be taken to avoid excessive material build-up at corners, cavities or crevices, as such accumulation may lead to shrinkage or fissures during curing.

Brush Application

The substrate shall remain damp from prior saturation without any standing water. The first coat of SikaTop® Seal-107 Fibre MY is applied using a stiff plastic-bristled brush in a single, consistent direction. After allowing the coating to harden for approximately 4 to 6 hours at temperatures above 20 °C, the second coat shall be applied in a crosswise direction to ensure complete coverage and improved bonding.

Generally, not required but precautions should be taken for applications done directly under sunlight and windy conditions.

Clean all tools and application equipment with water immediately after use. Hardened material can only be mechanically removed.
