SikaWall®-191 Base

High performance, cementitious base coat for internal wall

Formerly known as Brefill® Mortar. SikaWall®-191 Base is a cement based filling and levelling plaster for concrete surfaces. SikaWall®-191 Base consists of finely crushed white marble and high grade sand of consistent quality and composition, modified with alkali-resistant additives.

Usage

SikaWall®-191 Base is a fast and economical way to level uneven substrates such as concrete, aerated concrete, hollow block walls, light-weight blocks, etc.

Storage Conditions

Store properly in original, unopened and undamaged sealed packaging in dry conditions at temperatures between +5 °C and +30 °C. Protect from direct sunlight, rain and water.

Application steps

MIXING

SikaWall®-191 Base must be mixed with clean water at the site using a power drill whisk.

 

Pour the required water into a clean container then add SikaWall®-191 Base while stirring continuously until a smooth consistency is achieved. Allow mixture to stand for a few minutes. Mix again and the plaster is ready for use.

APPLICATION

SikaWall®-191 Base is applied either by hand with a steel trowel or spatula. The coat is then levelled off to a smooth finish. Ensure that the applied coat has hardened before applying subsequent coats.

CLEANING OF TOOLS

Clean all tools and application equipment with water immediately after use. Hardened and/or cured material can only be removed mechanically.

What are skim coats?

Skim coats are fine mortars applied onto walls and ceilings to a thickness of 2–3 mm to create a flat, smooth and uniform surface, to be painted or re-textured. As a guide, you should apply at least two skim coat layers to achieve a smooth and consistent surface.
