Sika® Plastiment® RT 100

Set retarding water reducing admixture

Sika® Plastiment® RT 100 is a ready-to-use, liquid admixture for producing more uniform and predictable quality concrete. Placing and finishing requirements are facilitated because this admixture retards setting time. It is designed to meet ASTM C494 requirements for Type B Retarding and Type D Water-Reducing and Retarding Admixtures. Sika® Plastiment® RT 100 will not initiate or promote corrosion of reinforcing steel in concrete. The admixture does not contain intentionally added calcium chloride or chloride-based ingredients.

Sika® Plastiment® RT 100 used at optimum dose rate modifies the performance of concrete to provide the following:
  • reduced water content for a given workability
  • improving/extending workability retention when incorporate with PCE retention type of admixture
  • controlled retardation - depending on the dose rate
  • improved workability
  • reduced segregation
  • superior finishing characteristics for slabs and precast of off-form surfaces
  • higher ultimate strength – both compressive and flexural

Usage

Sika® Plastiment® RT 100 is recommended for use in all types of concrete where retardation of set and improved performance is desired. e.g. plain, reinforced, precast or prestressed, concrete especially where placing by pump and when enhanced finishing is desired. When air-entrained concrete is desired to further reduce segregation bleeding and permeability, Sika® Plastiment® RT 100 can be used with air entraining admixtures manufactured by Sika. When used in conjunction with other admixtures, each admixture must be dispensed separately into the mix.

Shelf Life

12 months from date of production

Storage Conditions

Store at temperatures above 5 °C, in tightly sealed original drums. If found to be frozen, thaw it and reconstitute by stirring.

Consumption

Recommended Dosage

Use at the rate of 400 ml ± 100 ml per 100 kg of cement for most concrete mixes using average concrete ingredients.
Other dosage rate of 600 ml to 800 ml can be used for concrete with requirement for extended set time.
