Sikafloor® Emery MY

Store properly in undamaged and unopened, original sealed packaging, in dry conditions at temperatures between +10 °C and +35 °C. Protect from rain, condensation or high humidity.

Note: The AbrasionTest was carried out using Taber Abraser Method

The above values are dependent upon the concrete reaching its design strength for service ability and will be affected by changing ambient conditions, particularly temperature and relative humidity.

Important Note:

Application rate below 5 kg/m² would reduce the abrasion resistance correspondingly.

General

The broadcast of dry shake hardeners can be carried-out by mechanical spreader or by hand. The dry shake is broadcast in two passes, 2/3 the weight in the first pass and 1/3 the weight in the second pass. In the first pass, the dry shake is broadcast onto the concrete before bleeding occurs. Allow the dry shake to absorb the bleed water and wet out until a uniform dark colour is observed. Float the dry shake with a weighted wood bull-float or straight-edge, ensuring the dry shake is embedded and becomes an integral part of the concrete surface. Remove any surface irregularities.

Wait until the concrete surface is sufficiently firm to support the weight of a man leaving only minor indentation (~5 mm) of footprints. Immediately broadcast the remaining 1/3 dry shake at right angles to the first application. If a mechanical spreader is used, the dry shake does not have to be broadcast at right angles to the first application.

After the dry shake has absorbed the surface water and darkened uniformly, finish off the surface with a power float machine equipped with trowel blades or pans, to thoroughly embed the dry shake into the concrete for a smooth finish.

Important note: Do not spray water to wet out the surfaces broadcast with Sikafloor® Emery MY. This will have a detrimental affect to the overall quality of the floor.

Sikafloor® Emery MY surface must be protected to prevent rapid water loss which may result in surface cracks. Immediately after final trowelling, apply a Sika proprietary curing and sealing agent such as Antisol® A, Antisol® E, Sikafloor® Proseal-22 or Sikafloor® Curehard-24 (refer to respective Product Data Sheets for details).

Clean all tools and application equipment with water immediately after use. Hardened or cured material can only be mechanically removed.
