Sikagard®-704 MY

Silane/siloxane based reactive water repellent impregnation

Sikagard®-704 MY is a one component, low viscosity, reactive impregnation for concrete and cementitious substrates based on a mixture of highly active silanes & siloxanes.

Usage

Sikagard®-704 MY is used as water-repellent impregnation (hydrophobic treatment) for absorbent substrates such as concrete in civil engineering or building concrete structures subjected to heavy stress due to freeze and thaw cycles and de-icing salts, and chloride attack in marine environment.

Store in unopened, undamaged and original sealed packaging in dry and cool conditions between +10 °C to +35 °C . Protect from moisture and direct sunlight.

Waiting Time / Overcoating

Can be overcoated with water and solvent based polymer paint.

Sikagard®-704 MY can be used as a water repellent primer under Sikagard® protective coatings. Penetration of water is thus prevented at possible weak spots or in the event of damage to the top coat and the risk of consequential damages such as paint flaking can be reduced.

Overcoating time: minimum 5 hours, maximum 1 week.

* If other products is used for the top coat, contact the supplier of the product for specific recommendations. It is recommended to carry-out site trials to determine the suitablity of the top coat.

Curing Treatment

Sikagard®-704 MY does not require any special curing but must be protected from rain for at least 3 hours at +20 °C.

Consumption

Dependent on absorbency of the substrate as well as on the required penetration depth: typically ~150 g/m² per coat

Application steps

MIXING

Sikagard®-704 MY is supplied ready for use and must not be diluted.

APPLICATION

Sikagard®-704 MY is applied using a low-pressure spray, brush or roller, in a single pass from top to bottom taking care not to let the product run. Apply subsequent coats wet on wet.

On horizontal surface, avoid excessive ponding.

CLEANING OF TOOLS

Clean all tools and application equipment with water immediately after use.
