Sikament®-163 MY

High range water-reducing admixture with slump retention properties for concrete and mortar

Sikament®-163 MY is used as a highly effective water-reducing agent and superplasticiser for the production of high quality concrete in hot climates.
The dual action of Sikament®-163 MY extends the workability of concrete whilst promoting high early and ultimate strengths.
Sikament®-163 MY complies with the requirement of ASTM C494 Type D and G

Usage

As a superplasticiser, Sikament®-163 MY is used to produce high workability concrete for:
  • Slabs and foundations
  • Walls and columns
  • Slender components with densely packed reinforcement
  • Beams and ceilings

As a substantial water-reducing agent, Sikament®-163 MY is used where high early and ultimate strength is required, such as:
  • Prestressed concrete elements
  • Concrete elements manufactured in precast factories, where additional concrete placement time is required
  • Bridges and cantilever structures

Application

Application Information

Compatibility

Sikament®-163 MY is compatible with all types of Portland cement including Sulphate Resistant Cement (SRC) and also for use with cement blends containing microsilica, slag, etc. For more specific requirements, advice is available from our Technical Department.

DISPENSING

Sikament®-163 MY is added to the gauging water prior to its addition to the dry mix or separately to the freshly mixed concrete at the batching plant or on site into the truck mixer. Automatic and accurate dispensing equipment is available from Sika®.

Accidental overdosing of Sikament®-163 MY may cause an extension of the initial setting time however no excessive amount of additional air will be entrained. Accidental underdosing will result in reduced workability and normal cement setting times.


CLEANING OF TOOLS
 

Clean all tools and application equipment with water immediately after use. Hardened or cured material can only be mechanically removed.
Consumption

Recommended Dosage

Sikament®-163 MY is dosed at the recommended rate of 0.3–2.0 % by weight of total cement.
It is advisable to carry out trial mixes to establish the required dosage.
